The announcement for the opening of nominations for the FreightTech Awards is from FreightWaves’ Autonomous & Electric Vehicles Summit on Wednesday.

FIRESIDE CHAT TOPIC: FreightTech Awards open for nominations

DETAILS: FreightWaves’ FreightTech Awards honor innovation and disruption within the freight industry. Nominations open Wednesday and close Sept. 3. Nominations will be narrowed to the FreightTech 100, which will then be voted on by a handpicked peer group of CEOs, industry leaders and freight investors to select the FreightTech 25. The FreightTech 25 will be announced at FreightWaves’ F3: Future of Freight Festival on Nov. 9.

SPEAKERS: Mike Plasencia is the executive director of innovation for Ryder System Inc. Andrew Cox is a senior retail and market analyst at FreightWaves.

BIO: Plasencia is responsible for coordinating the creation of new products in the Ryder pipeline along with developing new products across Ryder’s key business segments.

KEY QUOTE FROM COX:

“The goal of the FreightTech Awards is to get the industry’s perspective. This is not FreightWaves’ view of FreightTech, this is truly to have the best and brightest of the industry determine who are the most innovative and most disruptive companies.”

KEY QUOTES FROM PLASENCIA:

“At Ryder System, we’ve built startups on our own and we partner with others. Our most recent move is now we’re actually investing. I think these awards represent all of that.”

“I think we’re gonna see all things e-commerce, it just continues to blow up in our space. And we’ll just have more and more trends percolating out of that, going from fulfillment at the broader level to micro-fulfillment at the final mile to new parcels startups.”
